The market's lowest cost and lowest power FPGAs are provided by Altera / Intel® Cyclone® IV FPGAs, which also offer a transceiver option. With Cyclone® IV devices, system designers may fulfill rising bandwidth demands while reducing costs for applications with large volume and tight budgets. With a low-cost integrated transceiver option, Cyclone® IV devices offer power and cost advantages without compromising performance, making them perfect for low-cost, small-form-factor applications in the wireless, wireline, broadcast, industrial, consumer, and communications industries. The Altera / Intel® Cyclone IV device family comes in two versions and is built on an optimized low-power technology. Low power, high functionality, and low price are all features of Cyclone® IV E.
Devices with Cyclone® IV GX technology offer an on-chip transceiver with up to 3.125Gbps in I/O speed. Numerous serial I/O protocols that are transitioning from the cutting edge to the mainstream are supported by this high-speed transceiver, including Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), PCI Express (PCIe), CPRI, XAUI, 3G Triple-Rate SDI, Serial RapidIO®, SATA, DisplayPort, and V-by-One. Additionally, Cyclone® IV GX FPGAs have an inbuilt PCIe hard IP block that, when used by the design engineer, does not rely on any FPGA logic and offers more capability than many of the FPGA architectures from rival companies.
