ARRIA V ST SoC Overview

For intermediate applications like remote radio units, 10G/40G line cards, and broadcast studio equipment, the Arria® V FPGA series offers the maximum bandwidth and consumes the least overall power. To best satisfy your performance, power, and integration objectives, there are five targeted variations, including SoC variants with a dual-core ARM* Cortex*-A9 hard processor system (HPS).

By combining a hard processor system (HPS), which consists of processors, peripherals, and a memory controller, with the FPGA fabric utilizing a high-bandwidth connection backbone, Intel® SoC FPGA enables you to minimize system power, system cost, and board area. The performance and ecosystem of an applications-class ARM* processor are provided, together with the flexibility and digital signal processing (DSP) richness of the Arria® V FPGA, when the HPS is combined with Intel's 28 nm low-power FPGA fabric.

The dual-core ARM* Cortex*-A9 MPCore* processor is shared by the Intel® Arria® 10 SoC FPGA and the Arria® V SoC FPGA. Therefore, you may quickly transfer your software to the Intel® Arria® 10 SoC FPGA when your Arria® V SoC FPGA design is ready for a performance upgrade. The Intel® Arria® 10 SoC FPGA, which is based on the TSMC 20 nm technology, provides a straightforward software migration path for performance upgrades for Arria® V SoC FPGA designs.
