The three speed categories of Virtex-5 FPGAs—-3, -2, and -1—offer the fastest performance. Both commercial and industrial grades of the Virtex-5 FPGA have specific DC and AC characteristics. For a specific speed grade, all DC and AC electrical parameters are the same, with the exception of the working temperature range or unless otherwise indicated (for example, the timing characteristics of an industrial device with a speed grade of -1 are the same as those of a commercial device with a speed grade of -1).
Only a few speed grades and/or equipment may, however, be offered in the industrial range. The requirements for junction temperature and supply voltage are all based on the worst-case scenario. The parameters are applicable to common applications and popular designs.
