Cyclone V FPGA Overview
The Altera Cyclone V series leverages TSMC's 28-nm low-power (28LP) process for development, cutting overall power consumption and static power consumption by 40% and 30%, respectively, in comparison to earlier product generations. The lowest power serial transceivers are offered by Cyclone V FPGAs. Each channel uses less than 1.8W of power at 5Gbps and can process up to 4,000 MIPS while using only 88 mW of power. In addition, the series incorporates many sophisticated intellectual property modules. The series also offers the most complete design protection features, including support for volatile and non-volatile keys 256-bit advanced encryption standard (AES), to safeguard significant IP investment.
Supporting PCI Express Gen2 hard-core IP modules and 400MHz DDR3 is a Multipurpose hard-core memory controller.
