The Extended Spartan-3A family, which also consists of the non-volatile Spartan-3AN and the higher density Spartan-3A DSP FPGAs, includes the Spartan-3A FPGAs. The preceding Spartan-3E and Spartan-3 FPGA families were successful, and the Spartan-3A family builds on that accomplishment. New features increase system performance while lowering configuration costs. These improvements to the Spartan-3A series set a new benchmark for the programmable logic sector by providing more functionality and bandwidth per dollar than ever before when paired with the industry-proven 90 nm manufacturing technology.
Spartan-3A FPGAs are particularly suited for a wide range of consumer electronics applications because of their incredibly low price, including broadband access, home networking, display/projection, and digital television equipment.
