L-ASC10-1SG48I Overview

​Platform Manager 2, MachXO2, MachXO3, or ECP5 FPGAs can be used with the L-ASC10-1SG48I to implement the Hardware Management Control function in a circuit board. The L-ASC10-1SG48I offers seamless scaling of the channels for margin, sequence, temperature, voltage, and current monitoring of the power supply. The centralized hardware management controllers can exchange monitor signal status and output control signals with the ASC's specific interfaces. A hardware management system can be implemented with as many as eight ASC devices. Two independently programmable comparators are used to monitor each analog sense channel in order to support the high/low and in-bounds/out-of-bounds (window-compare) monitor functions. The current sense channels have a quick fault detect and a customizable gain amplifier for detecting short circuit occurrences. Different external transistor or diode configurations can be used with the temperature sense channels. In order to manage DC-DC converters, low-drop-out regulators (LDOs), and optocouplers as well as perform supervisory and general purpose logic interface operations, nine general purpose 5 V tolerant open-drain digital input/output pins are supplied. To operate high-side MOSFET switches, four high-voltage charge pumped outputs (HVOUT1–HVOUT4) may be set up as high-voltage MOSFET drivers. These HVOUT outputs can be set to operate at a specific duty cycle and frequency as static output signals or switched outputs (to facilitate the construction of an external charge pump). Four TRIM outputs built within the ASC device allow it to regulate the output voltages of DC-DC converters. Using the Digital Closed Loop Control mode, each power supply's output voltage can normally be kept within a 0.5% tolerance under varying load situations. The I2 C bus's voltage and current can be observed using the inbuilt 10-bit A/D converter. The digital closed-loop control mode of the trimming block also makes use of the ADC. The ASC also has an on-chip output control block (OCB), which, for faster response, enables some alarms and control signals to link directly to the GPIOs or HVOUTs bypassing the ASC-I/F. The quick current fault detect signal is directly connected to an FPGA input using the OCB. Additionally, it features a programmable hysteretic controller and enables features like Hot Swap.
