The first PLDs built using the MultiCore architecture, which combines the benefits of LUT-based and productterm-based devices with an improved memory structure is EP20K100EFC256-2X belonging to APEXTM 20K family. For systems including data paths, register-intensive operations, mathematics, or digital signal processing (DSP), LUT-based logic offers the best performance and efficiency. Product-term-based logic is designed to work best with intricate combinatorial routes, such intricate state machines. This EP20K100EFC256-2X's architecture is especially suitable for system-on-a-programmable-chip designs thanks to LUT- and product-term-based logic, memory functions, and a large array of MegaCore and AMPP functions. APEX 20K devices can now be used for applications that previously required a combination of LUT-, product-term-, and memory-based devices.
