Every time an SRAM-based device is powered on, the configuration data must be loaded in order to configure the system. The EPCS device is a flash memory device that, once powered on, can store configuration data used for FPGA configuration. All FPGAs that support the AS x1 configuration scheme can support the EPCS device. You can transition vertically from the EPCS1 device to the EPCS4SI8N-JHUO or EPCS16 device for an 8-pin SOIC package. You can switch vertically from an EPCS64 device to an EPCS128 device for a 16-pin SOIC package. You can choose which EPCS device to use to store the configuration data for configuring your FPGA with the new data decompression feature supported.
