XC17V16VQ44I Overview

The XC17V16VQ44I PROM may configure a Xilinx FPGA through the FPGA serial configuration mode interface. The FPGA generates a configuration clock while it is in Master Serial mode, which is used to operate the PROM. Shortly after the rising clock edge, data emerges on the PROM DATA output pin, which is connected to the FPGA DIN pin. The FPGA generates the appropriate amount of clock pulses to complete the configuration. Once configured, it deactivates the PROM. When the FPGA is in slave serial mode, both the PROM and the FPGA must be clocked by an incoming signal.

A Xilinx FPGA can optionally be configured utilizing the FPGA Parallel (SelectMAP) configuration mode interface by XC17V16VQ44I. The FPGA creates the configuration clock that drives the PROM while it is in Master SelectMAP mode. An external, free-running oscillator produces the configuration clock that powers the PROM and the FPGA when the FPGA is in Slave SelectMAP mode. On the DATA (D0-D7) pins of the PROMs, data is available following the rising configuration clock (CCLK) edge.
